Tips to remember what you study

Are you constantly struggling to remember what you study even after putting in a lot of effort and time? Well, as the best CBSE School in Kolkata, let us tell you, you are not alone. We can understand how frustrating and embarrassing it can be and we understand that it can be enough to make you demotivated.

We have some suggestions for you that can solve this problem of yours in a jiffy. As the best CBSE School in Kolkata, we have some tips up our sleeves we can share with you to help you solve your problem.

Go back to it:

We often have the tendency to walk forward and never look back. When we are studying, we keep reading a chapter, page after page finish the chapter and move back to the next chapter. Later, when we are appearing for an exam on the same topics, we get the question paper and black out and realize our memory is almost wiped out. What we recommend is looking back. Once you are done with a topic, close the book, reiterate the same in your mind and test your memory by closing the book and noting down the important points in a notebook. Once you are learning something new, it is absurd to expect that what you read once will stick in your mind. You remember how many times you have to practise chords of a tune before playing it effortlessly on your guitar? Looking back at intervals and going through the topics in your mind will help you retain the information in your memory.

Pretend it to be a song:

You realize how easy it is for you to remember song lyrics? You just have to listen to the song a few times to remember it by heart. At times, for list of names, dates or anything that might seem rhythmic, you can place it in a tune and keep repeating it a few times. It works like magic.

Review:

Every day, make sure you keep a 15minute slot to go through what topics you covered that day. During your review slot, go through your notes from all the material you covered. Don’t forget to close your eyes and try to remember what topics you covered and challenge yourself to recall it and not just recognize it.
