Beat the heat this summer

Tue Oct 1 2024

Summers are here. Schools have reopened post COVID induced online classes. Before summer vacations, going to School after two years of staying at home is a challenge many students will face. While going back to School and meeting friends is very exciting for the little ones, safety remains an important aspect of going back to School. In addition, the heat wave warnings across the state call for extra attention from parents. Keeping the children protected from the scorching heat is very important. As the best CBSE School in Kolkata, safety of our students is our topmost priority. Here are some tips we have for parents to keep the students safe from the summer heat:

Staying hydrated

The school doesn’t just make its students go through text book studies meticulously. JPS also underlines the crying need for scientific and logical aptitude, language and speaking skills, along with the ability to express one’s mind. Jyotirmoy Public School believes an individual’s holistic development lends to healthy involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports, skits, debates, performing arts and son. Preparing a student to take on the world at large after passing out is at the heart of the school’s ethos.

Staying indoor

Children must avoid outdoor activities as much as possible. Staying at home can be difficult for children, especially after these years of staying at home. They might want to go out to play or ride their bikes. Apart from going to school, it is recommended students go out only after it is cooler outside. Generally the weather cools down after 5pm in the evening. Students can go out when the heat subsides.

Summer appropriate dressing

It is recommended that students are dressed lightly in accordance with the weather during summer. Wearing full sleeve, light coloured and preferably cotton clothes is essential. Cotton clothes that are light in colour absorb less heat and allow children to stay cool. Applying sunscreen is equally important. A child’s skin is soft and the harmful UV rays of the sun damage their skin more. Realizing that sunscreen is not just a product for adults but is equally essential for children is very important.

Eating healthy

We understand children can be picky eaters. Keeping them on a healthy diet to beat the heat is essential. Feeding them fresh seasonal produce is recommended. Fast food, oily food or stale food can result in diarrhoea or upset stomach. Green veggies and eating fresh fruits regularly is essential.

Apart from these, following basic protocols like carrying an umbrella while going out and looking out for signs of heat stroke in your child is recommended. As the best CBSE School in Kolkata, we can ensure you that the children will be safe with us and we will follow all protocols to ensure that our children are safe and healthy.
