70th Independence Day Celebration - 2016
Jyotirmoy Public School celebrated Independence Day with much enthusiasm and vigour. There was a feeling of oneness as the students, staffs and parents congregated to mark the 70th Independence of India. Keeping in accord to this year’s theme “Nobin Aaloke Probin Boron, Nomi Nomi Chorone”, tribute was paid to all the unsung heroes of our society who had witnessed Independence unfold before their very eyes and are still alive to share their experience.
The celebration began with the flag hoisting by the senior most of all the senior citizens present for the occasion accompanied by the National Anthem. The day’s programme began with a March Past by students, followed by an encouraging speech by the President of Jyotirmoy Education and Welfare Foundation, Dr. Partha Sarathi Ganguli, as he injected in our hearts a sense of patriotism. The Senior Citizens all above the age of 80 years were then felicitated with mementos of appreciation for their remarkable contribution to our society. The Cultural programme proceeded with various dance performances, patriotic songs, recitations and drama presentation by the students and staff of JEWF. To showcase the sacrifice made by the martyrs, several posters made by the students of JPS were put on display, based on the theme “Milestone of India’s Independence after 1857”. The programme ended with a vote of thanks. But this was not the end of celebration as it was followed by an Inter-Department Football Tournament. The trophy was bagged by the Saraswati Infracon India Limited a unit of JEWF leaving the audience enthralled for more. The day ended with a note of jubilation and a feeling of gratitude for all the heroes whose struggle made our independence possible.
